and his wife. Since both
their fathers were the
professors of mathemat-
ics at Tsinghua Universi-
ty, Hsiung Ping Ming
and Yang Zhenning met
in Tsinghua Garden at
the age of seven. This
deep friendship from
childhood brought them
closer.

tics and connotation

represented by human,

thus avoiding the

rigid grafting of

Western techniques

and Chinese civiliza-

tion. Meanwhile, he

used iron pieces

instead of the tradi-

tional Western cast

plaster statues or Chi-

nese-style marble

statues to convey his

creation intention
